This is the material that was sourced and read on Episode 76 of the Third Rail. The topics covered are a quick look into our creeping typhus crisis and a profile of future president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.
A Brief on Typhus
Typhus is “an infectious disease caused by rickettsiae, characterized by a purple rash, headaches, fever, and usually delirium, and historically a cause of high mortality during wars and famines. There are several forms, transmitted by vectors such as lice, ticks, mites, and rat fleas. Also called spotted fever.”
Most of us are familiar with typhus because of the devastation it caused during WWI and WWII among soldiers, their nurses, and those in labor camps. *Ahem* It is estimated that in Serbia alone, during WWI, that 150,000 died of the disease. Typhus ravaged the Soviet territories in the early 20s, resulting in deaths between 25 and 30 million. Between the two World Wars, the Polish Zoologist Rudolf Weigl developed the first typhus vaccination although there is no commercially available vaccine as typhus had been generally thought of as an eradicated disease in the Western World.
One of our favorite victims of typhus is Anne Frank, who along with her sister, succumbed like so many others to the disease while working in the labor camp of Bergen-Belsen. “Pictures of typhus victims’ mass graves can be seen in footage shot at Bergen-Belsen”.
Typhus is often spread quickly through unsanitary conditions. The disease is typically transmitted through human contact with a bacteria found in infected fleas and their feces. Symptoms can take two weeks to appear after coming into contact with an infect flea.
Immigration & Disease
Many of us wonder how, in the current year, places like Los Angeles, Houston, and Galveston are seeing epidemic levels of typhus that had “once thought to have been wiped out in most of the United States”.
The most ridiculous hypothesis, offered by Peter Hotez, Dean of Baylor’s National School of Tropical Medicine, is “climate change”. “Could it be we’re now seeing in terms of the geography of Texas, places where temperatures are higher for longer periods of time, which is giving fleas the opportunity to have a more expanded geographic range?”
Mr. Hotez doesn’t want to acknowledge the fact that cross border disease contamination is what is responsible for the outbreak of typhus in both Texas and California.
‘The Immigration and Nationality Act mandates that all immigrants and refugees undergo a medical screening examination to determine whether they have an inadmissible health condition, which is conducted in their home country, before entry to the United States.’ The diseases that are screened include: tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis, polio, measles, mumps, HIV, and other sexually transmitted diseases. While the CDC attempts to protect Americans from incoming legal immigrants, there is no protection in place for those crossing our borders illegally.
Chris Cabrera, a border patrol agent in South Texas warned: “What’s coming over into the U.S. could harm everyone. We are starting to see scabies, chickenpox, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections and different viruses”. It’s been reported that many young Hispanic illegal immigrants are infected with lice and other parasites, fleas included.
Tuberculosis, for instance has given us quantitative measurements of disease between native born Americans and foreign-born people in the US.
Foreign-born people in the U.S. have a TB incidence 13 times higher than U.S. born people (15.1 cases per 100,000) v (1.2 cases per 100,000).
In a 2002 article, published by the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the authors summed up their findings in a short statement: ‘Hispanic immigrants are an increasing portion of the US population and are at increased risk for some infections that are unusual in the US-born population. Such diseases as tuberculosis, Typhoid fever…and hepatitis need to be considered in Hispanics…’
The Typhoid Outbreak in Texas and California
In late June, a typhus outbreak began being reported as ‘surging’ through Texas. As of Monday, typhus has been reported at epidemic portions in Los Angeles and surrounding cities.
Since 2003, there has been an eight-fold increase from the 30 cases of typhus to 222 cases in 2013. In 2017, Texas reported typhus in 43 counties. 519 cases of typhus, with Harris County (Houston) and recording 71 cases and Galveston County (Galveston Beach) 18 cases.
In Los Angeles County, 57 cases have been reported so far. Pasadena has reported 20 cases.
“A CDC report published in May found that reported case of such vector-borne disease more than tripled across the country between 2004-2016”
For some reason, epidemiologists can’t seem to grasp why there’s a sudden resurgent in a disease thought to have been wiped out in the U.S. One can only wonder if mass unchecked illegal immigration from Mexico and other Latin American countries may have something to do with it.

Jair Bolsonaro, a long term serving Congressman of the Brazilian Lower Chamber of Congress, has become a new figure of Populism and Nationalism all over the world since launching his Presidential campaign in August of 2018. Called by many the “Trump of Brazil”, Bolsonaro has been named the: “most misogynist, hateful elected official in the democratic world”, “the world’s most repulsive politician”, and “a radical, religious nationalist, right-wing demagogue, apologist of dictators”.
And he’s going to be the next President of Brazil.
Born: 21st of March 1955 (63 years old)
Descent: Of German and Italian origins. Curiously, Wikipedia states, that his Great-Grandfather was German and fought for Adolf Hitler. Was he in Wehrmacht or SS it isn’t said.
Children: Married to his 3rd wife and has 5 children (4 boys!).
Lives in: Rio De Janeiro
Military Service: 1977 – 1988.
Early Life and Military Career
Bolsonaro was born on March 21, 1955 and is of Italian and German descent. He once commented that his great-grandfather was a soldier in Adolf Hitler’s Army, saying “he had no choice: either he was a soldier or he would be killed”. Bolsonaro, much like his great-grandfather, was destined for military service when he was accepted into the Academia Military des Agulhas Negras, Brazil’s main military academy. He graduated in 1977 and served in the army’s paratrooper and artillery units.
He served in the Armed Forces during Military Dictatorship of Brazil, under the Federative Republic of Brazil. The dictatorship reached the height of its popularity in the 70’s, during a time known as The Brazilian Miracle. The Dictatorship lasted for 21 years and promoted nationalism, economic development, anti-communist guidelines, censorship of the press, and the persecution of political dissidents, which included torture, death, and exile. The Military Dictatorship ended on March 15, 1985 after democratic elections. As many know, post 1985 Brazil has become a literal hell hole, giving way to conditions to potentially allow Bolsonaro to reach the pinnacle of Brazilian power.
In 1986, he first caught the public’s attention after penning an article in Veja magazine criticizing military pay. He was arrested for fifteen days and was subsequently acquitted two years later. He left active duty in 1988 and joined the reserves with the rank of Captain.
His first foray into politics was a run for the Rio de Janerio City Council in 1988. He ran as a member of the Christian Democratic Party. Two years later, he ran for the Lower Congress and served seven consecutive terms. In the 27 years of public service, he married three times and had five children: four boys and a girl. About his girl, he said he “produced a daughter out of a moment of weakness”.
How Bolsonaro Has Won Over Brazil
Brazil is not the postcard so many of us envision when we close our eyes. Since the end of the Military Dictatorship in 1985, Brazil has been on a downward slide of corruption, economic dysfunction, and crime. In the past four years, three million jobs have been lost as the country struggles with recession. There were more than 64,000 homicides since 2017. Hundreds of politicians have been indicted on corruption charges. And the ever creeping push of degenerate liberalism into everyday life has become unbearable for many Brazilians that want a normal safe Christian life for themselves and their future descendants.
The state of Brazil, between the violence and economic despair, has paved the way for a man like Bolsonaro to take the main stage.
During his time in Congress and on the national stage, Bolsonaro has become a powerful advocate of Brazilian right-wing Nationalism under the banner of “Bullets, Bible, and Beef”. He has expressed a wide range of views on topics such as women, homosexuality, immigration, the role of military in government, and traditional Christian values. On his campaign website, he alludes to leftists as foreign, stating: “we are a country that is proud of our colors, and we do not want to import ideologies that destroy our identity”.
An incident in 2015 cost Bolsonaro roughly $2,500 USD in fines, in an exchange former Human Rights Minister Maria do Rosario during a congressional debate, Bolsonaro said minors should be treated as adults if they commit horrific crimes such as murder and rape. Rosario called Bolsonaro a rapist in which he responded, “(you) are not worthy of being raped”. The comments were widely condemned in Brazil and Bolsonaro was brought up on counts of hedonic damages. He was found guilty and fined.
In the same year, Bolsonaro was interviewed by Zero Hora where he argued men and women should not receive the same pay because women get pregnant and the federal law mandating paid maternity leave harms work productivity. He has also argued against affirmative-actions quotas put in place by previous governments that were designed to increase university and employment access to black Brazilians and women. He’s said that Brazilian feminists are good only for the oral sex they might provide.
With his strong views on the role of women in society and the affirmative action quotas that have damaged Brazilian institutions, Bolsonaro has strong stances on immigrants, descendants of enslaved Africans, and indigenous Brazilians. He’s proposed selling off lands settled by both the indigenous and former African slaves. He’s called immigrants (mostly from Haiti, Africa, and the Middle East) “the scum of humanity”.
Bolsonaro is extremely anti-LGBT. The Advocate has called Bolsonaro “Brazil’s biggest homophobe”. When asked by Playboy in 2011, he said “I would be incapable of loving a gay son”. Again, in 2011, he said he would fight the distribution of a ‘gay kit’ [a set of guidelines proposed by UNESCO to promote the rights of the LGBT community in primary schools] stating “their intention is to promote homosexuality, which is an affront to the family structure..”
Quotes on Homosexuality:
- No father is ever proud of having a gay son
- We Brazilians do not like homosexuals
- Many of the children who are adopted by gay couples will be abused by these couples.
- Most homosexuals will be murdered by their respective pimps at hours when good citizens are already asleep.
- If I see two men kissing in the street, I will beat them
- If your child starts to become like that a little gay, you take a whip and you change their behavior.
- Over time, due to liberal habits, drugs, with women also working, the number of homosexuals has really increased.
On His Support of the Military Dictatorship of the Past and Possibly the Future:
- He believes torture is a “legitimate practice”
- He’s referred to the Military Dictatorship as a “glorious period” in Brazils history
- The error of the dictatorship was that it tortured, but did not kill
- He’s praised Pinochet, saying his government “should have killed more people”
- On instigating a coup himself:
- “I have no doubts—I would begin the coup on the very first day! And I am sure that at least 90% of the people would commemorate or give me an ovation. The congress today is god for nothing, they only vote in favor of the president’s projects. If he is the person who makes the decisions, who calls the shots, who laughs at the Congress, then start the coup at once and let’s make this a dictatorship”
On the Blacks:
- During his campaign, he’s proposed to use helicopters to dump pamphlets into Brazil’s largest favela neighborhood-where the population is 90% black-to warn drug dealers that they had six hours to turn themselves in before the military would come in guns blazing.
- On birth control for the blacks-“It is no good talking about education because most of these people are not prepared to receive education and will not educate themselves. Only birth control can save us from chaos”
Personality: For those who can only understand this stuff in RPG terms, he is a high CHARISMA build with high ENDURANCE and aggressive play style. Like all good politicians he managed to survive an assassination plot, so he is a prototypical happy warrior. As a side note, there are some pretty fun gifs in Twitter, with his trademark ‘that’s where you’re wrong kiddo’ finger points (just search Bolsonaro).
Unlike the tired American trope of ‘Straight Shooter’, he really is very honest and straightforward in his approach. Really doesn’t mince words and his talks about gays are both correct and very straight to the point. Very forceful and strict in his words with well defined sense of justice and order. He seems familiar, not to mention he can bring levity to situation when needed.
He’s a perfect politician.
Political views: His early political carrier was almost exclusively made by support of military and law enforcement. In fact in 1987 he was put in prison for 15 days, after he wrote an article in a magazine, criticizing military brass, that they were firing officers and lowering salaries, because of budgetary constraints. Every since he was a staunch pro-military guy.
“Fake Terrorism Plot Rumor”
There’s even a rumor, which a Brazilian friend relayed, about a fake terrorism plot. Now, don’t take our word for this as this is only a rumor relayed to us by a Brazilian we know, and Bolsonaro denies this whole story and the military declared him innocent…
Buuuuuuuuuuut it does fit his personality to try something like this:
In 1987, after being jailed for 15 days due to his article against the lowering of salaries in the military, he conceded an interview to a journalist (Cassia Maria) of the VEJA magazine (a J-Right Brazilian magazine similar to The Economist) where, in an off the record conversation, Bolsonaro made claim to a part of plan to blow up small explosives across some military installations as a form of protest. The plan was not meant to kill anybody, but show the lack of control the current leadership of the army (by then the army had already been put bellow civilian control) had over the lower echelons and the lack of satisfaction of the soldiers with the current policies. The journalist, after doing the regular song-and-dance these types do about their “professionalism” and “loyalty to sources”, published the entire conversation in the magazine anyway
Political Career (The Autistic Details)
Bolsonaro Served in Rio De Janeiros city council and then since 1991 served as a Federal Deputy (American equivalent of Congressman) for Rio De Janeiro. He would usually get ~100K votes, but sometime in 2010-2014 his popularity jumped up in 2014 he received 400k votes. His old videos of him humiliating J-Left, globohomo types in government and media circulate widely in Brazilian social media. It’s actually not that hard to find his stuff translated to English.
Here’s some choice videos:
Quite telling interview of his. Seems ~2010’ish (Choice quotes: “Minorities should shut up and respect Majority”; “A minority of criminals victimize majority of citizens”)
On the racism front, we don’t really see anything special. He seems to be a pretty much a standard white equalitarian. Which means he will treat blacks the same as whites, which means all the blacks are going to prison. El oh el, as it were.
Wikipedia describes him as one of the most pro-American politician in recent years in Brazil. With that in mind it makes complete sense that he is very pro-Israel and even especially seems to align with Likud even, just like Trump. It is only natural, that a pro-American politician would align himself with Israel, since Jews, of course, are the real power behind the US. He was also recovering in a hospital named Albert Einstein Hospital, so yeah, no need to spell this out here.
His presidential appeal is harder to explain as well, unless you analyze the internal situation of Brazil, which the J-Left never does. Vice, of all places, made a pretty good piece on this election (If you can stomach, standard sob stories from fat Shanueqas, )
Situation in Brazil
In short: Fucked Up.
In long, Brazil is in a surge of crimewave, political corruption scandals and general dysfunction. In 2015-2016 there also was a recession. 2017 it seems to have recovered , but unemployment stayed 12.8%. Murder rate in Brazil is 29.2 (there were 56,101 murders in 2017 ), while neighboring Argentina’s is 5.94. US murder rate is 4.9, South Africa’s is 33.97. I suspect white population % and murder rate inverse correlation.
The political corruption is a deep problem.
The current ruling party is the PT (Workers Party). They have been in power since 2003 and the former president, Lula, is now in jail for 12 years, for bribery. He was also charged with money laundering, influence peddling and obstruction of justice. All of this is the outcome of Operation “Car Wash”, where the Brazilian Federal Police is investigating big-time corruption in the ostensible republic.
Speaking of which, the current president, used to be a vice president to that presidential ho, Rousseff (Bulgarian communist descent). She was impeached in 2016 for corruption. While she was impeached, she tried to help her totally corrupt former president friend Lula, by appointing him Chief of Staff (akin to Prime Minister), making him immune to prosecution, when he really needed it, during his “car wash” trial. It didn’t work and she got impeached.
TL;DR: Brazilian politics are really corrupt and everyone knows it. Current presidential approval rate was 7% in 2017 with 76% saying that they should resign.
Bolsonaro’s Chances to Win
They actually appear high.
Now here’s a fun fact. According to polls, if Lula wasn’t in jail, he would’ve won the election. Lula presided over a lot of economic growth in the early 00s, so even as corrupt as he is he maintains a high level of popularity. So the corruption of the ruling elite is to blame for a possible win by Bolsonaro. As always what’s missing from data is racial polling annnnnnnnnnnd… yep, Bolsonaro was voted in by whites.
If you aren’t woke, by the way, to the full situation of Brazil, the two southernmost states, the ones closest to Argentina and Uruguay, are the whitest, while northern states, the ones closest to the Caribbean, are the blackest and most pardo, the general term for the mixed people
We cannot speculate for the possible election shenanigans by the leftists, but what we’ve read on the internets is that it appears that they expect leftoids to pull some level of election fraud.
It doesn’t matter, however.
Bolsonaro is crushing it.
God speed, you crazy, looking-ripped-while-getting-stabbed-with-a-knife, future el presidente.
