I’ve seen a butthurt liberal post on this “visual evidence of Israel’s war crimes” every week since the cease-fire. I honestly find myself wondering if leftists actually care more about the 2,000 dead Palestinians than the unbelievable atrocities being perpetrated by ISIL in the same region?
LOL JK I DON’T WONDER.
Looks like peace to me.
The following quotes come from the BBC article linked at the top:
In Gaza, families are slowing returning to their homes, but for many they will find them razed to the ground.
It was nice of Israel to at least warn Gazan families before conducting their bombing of the area.
Drone footage reveals the extent of damage to Gaza City caused by the recent conflict with Israeli that lasted 50 days, until a ceasefire was brokered.
Last week… Yuval Steinitz said Israel has “paid a very expensive price… because of the daily barrages of rockets and mortars” from Hamas.
But… the challenge now for the people of Gaza is rebuilding, but that will not be easy when there is nothing for them to build with.
Blah blah blah, Israel suffered damage and deaths but on a vastly smaller scale. The Gazans have and will suffer more from this conflict because the Gazans lacked the infrastructure to start such a conflict to begin with. Maybe they should reconsider supporting Team Rocket in the future?
No, I’m not going to make any apologies for Israel’s actions, neither do I intend to coldly ignore the poor dead Palestinian
human shields* children. *It’s horrible that innocent lives had to be lost in the fighting. I will certainly grant that the Jewish nation isn’t known for playing nice or being a reliable ally to the West. They indulge in activities that I find repugnant and worthy of criticism, particularly their rentseeking and holocaust pity-peddling.
Before you indulge in the Palestinian genocide rhetoric, however, there are some things you should consider. First, that Israel actually exists in the Middle East; a region soaked in blood throughout all recorded history. Israel putting down it’s arms wouldn’t stop the deaths, and would very likely result in many more deaths. Consider that the mean ole’ Jewish state lacks the comfortable separation of the Atlantic Ocean that we enjoy. We don’t have to worry about being close to a bomb shelter when we’re trolling the internet here in the States. Consider that Israel is only about 500 miles from the horrors being perpetrated by ISIL, consider that the distance could be considerably less depending on what reports you read re: Golan Heights.
All that to say that maybe you actually can’t afford to play comfortable neoconservative or liberal geopolitics or follow modern rules of engagement when massacres and beheadings are less than a day’s drive away?
Ultimately Israel is for me the canary in the coalmine. To see how the dominant narrative treats Israel’s reaction to violence in a violent region is to understand why I find myself leaning libertarian on matters of foreign intervention. The perverse, post-Christian mind of the modern leftist seems to actually believe that no violence committed by a modern, civilized society can ever be justified. They want to pretend all bad things can be dispelled with a social network struggle session and an occupy rally or two.
I wonder: how can such a mindset actually succeed against a barbarous, violent people with nothing to lose?
LOL JK, I DON’T WONDER.
